First project boat wanted a boat that i could fish with 3 on lake near our camp and this was my choice. Good sound boat so far. First order of work was to strip off deck and clean it up. 3/23 i removed transom, installed new winch, jack, chains. Any suggestions on transom material? I considered a micro-lam beam since i have access to construction site. Floor is up next shoud i treat hull with someting before floor?

Looks like you have a good starting point for a good fishing boat. I'm in the process of replacing my transom now. I'm using 3/4 exterior grade plywood with two sheets glued together. Then coated in spar varnish. Good luck with your resto.

Welcome to iboats.

Looks like you need a few things.

Find a local aluminum welder and have the knee brace repaired ;)

Next I would oder some Gluvit gluvit and coat all those seams and rivets from the inside of the hull. That is one of the best insurance policies for stopping leaks and preventing future ones.

The transom will be 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood laminated together and yes about 4-5 coats of marine varnish works nicely. I would also use the Gluvit on all 4 wood edges.

The primary rule is NEVER use any of the pressure treated wood since it attacks aluminum.

Take a look at the supplies that iboats offers Boat Paint, Repair & Maintenance - Boat Carpet, Fiberglass Repair, Antifouling and also take a look at the Starcraft http://forums.iboats.com/starcraft-boats/starcraft-rebuilds-restorations-theyre-all-here-494143.html index of what people have done.

Are you going to re-install the bech seats that are removed? They are very important for the hull's support.

Have fun! Remember to service the wheel bearings on your trailer too.

Thanx for the response! I thought i would go with three box seat setups, good point on the benches for side support. I dont have the original bench seats, i could see about fabricating a seat that would support the sides and build a raised deck over these benches, i was trying to achieve a level plane for moving around. Any info on finding these box bases?

Welcome to the Starmada! :welcome:

Nice boat you got there! :thumb: +1 on putting the bench seats back.

If you can't find a welder, a few of us have been riveting 3/16" angle in place of the cracked-tabs.

^^^ They're solid rivets since I had the knee brace of to fix other issues...but others have used blind (pop) rivets and back-buttered the angle with PL adhesive.
