Hello, I am a new member. I just got a 16ft runabout with a '69 100hp Mercury. I was told it was all rebuilt last year. This I believe to be true because under the cowl it is immaculate, wiring and all. It is fed from an aluminum tank in the bow by a typicle fuel line t0 a spin on fuel filter (look like a oil filter) mounted at the stearn. Then up to the bulb and to the motor. It will start with no problem. Idle out with no problem. Roll power on run at near full speed for an hour. Stop to swim idles fine, turn off key. Now!! When I restart, starts up ok. Idle a little weak. Run fast in neutral to warm up. Drop to idle put in gear roll power on slow. Boggs down powerless and dies. If I restart in neutral I must have the throttle only wide open and it runs real slow like flooded. After a few trys and dies it will catch and take off like it should????? Wondering if a fuel feed at idle. DOES NOT starve for fuel at full speed. can get 4000 RPMs and 40 MPH. What do ypu guys think. Thank you all in advance

Next time you anchor-down, let it cool enough to pull the plugs. Have a complete set of new ones and an extra wrench (in case you drop something). If they are wet, it's a weak spark, flooding, or bad fuel problem.
If they are dry, it's compression, fuel pump or reeds.
If they are not uniform, conmpression on that cylinder could be low.
