Does anyone know how the trigger in the distributor works?! The rotor spins and hits the points but what exactly does the trigger do and does it stay down while the rotor spins or does it pulse up and down six times with the rotation of the fly wheel?
This is how the trigger works in the breakerless Tbolt ignition. Your problem might be with the trigger or you might have the early version with points, can you post a picture of the distributor?
After further research I'm pretty sure you have a triggered ignition and if it's bad you have replace it - if you buy one from this site it comes with instructions. Also the rotor is molded onto the shaft so don't try to pull or unscrew it.
