I have a 1969 Merc 40 1 cyl. the motor will crank and idle perfect. However once you throttle it up after about 1/4 to 1/3 throttle it dies. You can choke it right quick and it will catch back up then dies again. It will then crank right back up. I have put new gaskets, diaphragm and check valves in the fuel pump. I am running it off of the same tank and hose I use on a merc 110 that will run, so I don't think it is restricted there. I can not see any leaks in the fuel system. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Craig

The high speed jet or passage way for the fuel is blocked in the carb and needs to be cleaned or rebuilt. JMO

If you have a fuel filter check it to see if its blocked.

A carb kit for your motor can be bought here at IBoats and a manual for your motor will have the steps to do the job in it. Buying both the kit and manual is advisable if needed.
