1969 Johnson 55

I have what may be considered a stupid question.. But im having a dispute with a friend. He says his motor has some sort of charging system in it to recharge his starting battery. Im wondering if motors of that age even had a charging system in it or if it was an after market add-on

your friend is right, it not much but it does charge the battery.

It also runs off the battery, so a recharging source is mandatory. Otherwise it would conk out after running till the battery went dead.
