did you ever get your hands on a torque wrench???? if not, your first trip on the water may be short lived. proper torque on that nut is crucial! ......a wrench and a 2 foot piece of pvc pipe does not make the cut as a precision tool! :facepalm:

Hey guys just got another one of these outboards. My first 1968 40 hp johnson RDS-30A had no GEN and the new one does. But I'm only finding the Voltage regulator. Where and what does the Gen look like and mounted at?

Looks like a starter, mounted on the front port side of the motor, opposite the starter. Has a belt driven by the flywheel.

Hey Steve, whereabout are you from?

Here is something that will get you close.

As stated, only 1 lead to the cutout, then onto the M terminal. The other black lead direct to the M terminal

I have the same motor same problem had mine running but not well and than it shorted out desperately need that d I agram so I can read it

I think I can figure out how to make that work except mine doesn't have generator or voltage regulator wish I could find a new wire harness is every thing still wired the same I need this running so my girl stops giving me **** for buying this little span boat
