I have a 69 9.5 hp that doesn't even sound like it it trying to start. Not even a sputter. It has spark and is getting plenty of fuel. What could the problem be ? Thanks for any help.

John,
Just a couple of questions:

Have you done a compression test on the motor??
What condition are the coils, points, and condensers?
Plug wires cracked?
Describe the condition and color of the plugs (wet, black, etc.)

You mention it's getting plenty of fuel. Did you try spraying fuel mix into the throat of the carb to see if it will run for a few seconds?

Post back your findings and include the model number if you have it.

What did you find when you did the troubleshooting in the Engine FAQ, John?
