I have a 1969 evinrude 85hp model 85993m. The problem Im having is in the lower unit shift and seals. I know twords the end of last summer the prop was leaking oil. So from that the rev. quit working all together. When i drained the lower unit for the winter it was goop. I know the fluid has to be very thin for the gears to shift but my question is Why does it shift from forward to nuetral but not rev. is reverse out? Also is the lower unit worth repairing? Or just replacing? Any sugestions would be helpful
