1968 merc 650 tach set up

I was wondering if any one knows how to hook up a tach setup for this outboard. I was told to hook it up to the recitifier or stator but this model doesn't have a charging system. Model #2312509 Its an electric start version with no charging system on it. Good motor though, grandpa had it on his boat and it sat for 15yrs with a frozen lower unit in his boat house. I put a rebuilt lower unit on it and hit the choke and she started right up and purrs better than any new engine I've seen. That tells you something about merc engines when you take care of them lol.

If it don't have a alternator then it has magneto ign. you will need to find a tach that is compatable with a 4 cyl. 2 cycle ign. system
