I could use some advice on how to remove the small cracks in the gel-coat shown in the attached photo. Is it as simple as using a gritty rubbing compound? I'm a real novice here.

Ayuh,.... That's deeper than rubbing compound....

Try Sand, 'n Paint...

Those arent scratches. They are stress cracks.

Stress Cracks? The only place these appear is just above the rub-rail on the gun-wales. I thought it had just been exposed to the sun for too long.
