Hi all. I just bought a 1967 Glasspar Catalina G-3, and it has a (same year) Evinrude 85 HP Starflight 10 on it. Most of the wiring is cracked and corroded, and some of the wires are broken. I'm wondering if it is at all possible to get a repro or NOS rear wiring harness for this motor. If not, I will rebuild it, it just would be much easier to buy a new one instead of having to build one from scratch, more or less. The type of ignition, I can't remember, for the life of me, what it's called. But all I can remember for the discription of it is that it has the "domed" flywheel, and the ignition box thing that says "Motorola" on it. Here are the Model and Serial numbers. Model: 85893A Serial: E04985 Thanks everybody if you can give me some ideas! Pete.

I'll try to post a pic, but don't count on it! lol.

First the model: 85893 ,this came out 1968 85hp .

Secound , take a look at this page , find a distributor close to you .

They got the harness you are looking for .
Download catalog ,try 413-9910 ( Retail Price:$150 ) or 413-9905 ( Retail Price:$150 ) , for you 1968 model they got 2 harnesses ,guessing it's 1 for manual shift and 1 for electric shift ?? .

Battery CD ignition with breaker points ( CD = capacitor discharge ) :)

Awesome! Thank you very much.

I just bought the boat from the original owner, and he says the boat is a 1967, so I was assuming everything else was, but the numbers don't lie!!

It's very possible that it was bought in late '67 as a '68 model year, or he bought the motor seperately right after he bought the boat.

Capacitor discharge! That's it! I knew what it was, but it was floating around in my brain and wouldn't come out! lol.

Thanks a lot! I had done some searching of my own as well for the wiring harness, and that's about the price I found. But I didn't find many different ones being sold, and the descriptions were vague, (you know those sites, I'm sure) so I didn't want to start looking into the ones I found for fear of them being the wrong one.

And just fyi, my motor is an electric shift.

Thank you very much!!

Pete.
