Hello,
I'm attempting to bring an old Merc back to life and could use a bit of assistance. I have rebuilt the fuel pump and carbs. Compression is 145 on 1,2 and 3. Cant get in to #4 but am assuming it's the same. Point are not new but looked very good, no arcing showing. The manual calls for point gap at ..008 (48 degrees dwell) and also .020 in two different places in the manual. I got spark at .008 but not at .020. That confused me a bit. What is correct point gap? I set timing on belt to match mark lines. Fuel is dripping from carbs when choked but plugs are staying dry. I'm hoping it's not crankshaft seal. Am I missing something simple? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
