I just picked up a pristine condition 1966 Merc 110. I plan on changing the impeller before using. How reliable were these old girls and what speeds can I expect when using on a 14ft fishing boat that weighs 210 pounds.

Considering it's over forty year old and still running is comment enough regarding it's reliability. You will hardly be alone in that regard. Scads of them still around. You should be able to plane that boat with you alone, but maybe not with another passenger.

I have a 1967 and it starts on the second pull..after two choke pulls. It runs great. I have it on a sneakbox duck boat that is 12' long and has a lot of rocker in the hull. With me alone in the boat with a tiller extension, I can hit 20 something. With my 8 year old grandson and decoys it won't quite plane but that is a displacement hull problem. Great motor though, congrats on the find.
