Hi everyone, I am new to posting threads on this forum but have browsed many great threads in the past. Would really appreciate some new friends with some constructive advise as I begin refreshing the boat.

Recently purchased a 1965 Texas Maid that is very solid. There are 4 porthole windows on both port and starboard sides along with a great hatch on the bow. It appears to be a very cool/unique boat.

Does anyone have information on the history of these boats? The registration shows Texas MaidFLE; I am assuming this is a typo and was meant to be FIE (as in Fiesta? abbreviated)

It has a 1967 Mercury 650 (65hp) on the transom. Is Mercury the original manufacturer used? I am more familiar with Evinrudes and Johnsons but this motor appears clean and complete. Will get it running with muffs this week to check it out more.

Interior needs a little expected work, but will be fun to work on as $$ permits.

Trailer is very heavy duty and well worth the price I got for everything as a package from an owner who was moving.

Anyhow, thank you for any and all comments regarding these great boats. Will have photos to share soon.

Congrats on the new toy! Look familiar? Not all the exact same year, but pretty close. Very cool looking. Keep us posted on your progress. We love pics;)

You may want to check out Fiberglassics.com too. They have lots of good info on old boats.
