I am new to boating and have a neighbor who has 65' Johnson Shipmaster. Has little 5 hp motor, steering doesn't work, seats missing, in moderate condition. What's something like this worth? He wants to sell it to me but has no idea where to even start (and neither do I!)

Thanks-

It sounds like it would be a lot of work, a big project. If it were me, I would sell for $100, or the vaulue of the motor if it is worth it, or maybe trade for a couple cases of beer!

"Shipmaster" was a trade name Johnson outboards used on their old 2-handle control boxes. I don't think they ever used it on any of their gull-wing boats as the name was already being used at that time... Time to do some more digging to find out what exactly the boat is...

Thanks for the guidance. The owner doesn't seem to have any more info. He said it's a "1965 Johnson". I attached a few photos- any of you gurus know this boat?

Thanks!
