I am looking for a replacement shift lever for my 1965 6hp CD-22M outboard. I bought it complete with a splendid Vice Grip shift lever which works, but does not seem to be original equipment on the motor. Or should I keep the "after market" accessory?

Also, advice on how/when to use the trim feature on this outboard (the thing that adjusts the angle of the motor to he boat)? I will be using this outboard on a lightweight aluminum, 14' flat bottom Jon Boat with a shallow draft.

Try tcoutboard.com for a nice used lever.

Adjust your manual trim to set the anticavitation plate parallel with the bottom of your boat.

Good luck. :)
