1965 Big Twin 40 hp short shaft

My 1972 16' StarCraft Super Sport has a 20-21 inch transom . I want to mount my 65 Big Twin short shaft . Anyone know of a reverse Jack Plate that will lower me 4 inches? I've looked and looked and have quite a headache. Even a jack Plate that will lower instead of raise 5" would be helpful. Suggestions other than buy a new motor, please.
Im running my 1956 Johnson 15 hp currently just to troll and put, but more than 1/3 throttle...well...you know....

The 5" extension kits are easy to find for a 1965 model 40 HP !

I will search for an extension. I looked at bay but they didnt go back to 1965.

"blushing"...I found a 5" extension.....:joyous:..can i ask if there is a thread or other information on what will be needed to complete the extension, ex. new rods longer shifter, shaft drive..

A 5" shift rod connecter.----Then 5" longer water tubes.-----More bolts and one 5" longer bolt at the back.-----Water pump spacer.-----Longer driveshaft.----Decorative lower clamshells.---All simple to find in my opinion.

Simpler but probably more expensive -- aftermarket tilt and trim unit mounted lower on the transom, maybe in combination with a shorter mounting board. Maybe

I am in Bristol Ct. Ive contacted minimum 6 sellers on ebay, and they tell me what they have wont fit and good luck with the extension shafts.

I can't believe that response from E-bay sellers.----Often the sell stuff but do not know what fits what.------That stuff was the same year to year !!!----You would trip over those parts in my area !

You would want to double check whether that kit will fit a 1965 model.----For one thing the 1965 has 2 water tubes.---The 1965 model may use a different driveshaft too.-----Time to do the research I say.

That kit will not fit a 1965 40hp. It is for a 33hp.

Or those commercial 40 HP models from 83 to 86 as well.----I don't think the driveshaft in that kit fits a 33 hp model.----I believe the seller lists it as fitting 83 to 86 models here !!

Most I am seeing say fits 66-70...I havent given up. Ive got to make it happen,

That kit posted above on Fleabay will not fit !----First clue should be that it only has 1 water tube extension and your motor needs 2 of them.---No extension pieces shown for the outer exhaust housing.----There is supposed to be a " dummy " water pump piece as well.-------And a 66 model is the same as a 65 model.----Told you this is easy.
