I have just installed a water pump kit on my engine. All went very well. I now have an issue getting the lower end re-attached. Everything lines up where it is suposed to but there is great resistance in getting the two ends to seat. It feels like I'm pushing into a rubber seal. Would some lubrication on the driveshaft and the water pump output solve this issue?

Re: 1965 9.5HP lower end question Evinrude

I was wondering why I didn't get any replies to this issue.... That was until I get home last night. I'd like to nominate myself for the bonehead of the week award. I had my motor lying its side with some wooden blocks supporting it. The problem I created fro my self was that one of the blocks was keeping the shifter from moving. I guess it is hard to re-attach a lower end if the shifter won't move. After removing the block everything slid into place like it should. I told my wife what happened and that I posted a question on this forum. She had a good laugh and said that they would probably ban me from the forum for being an idiot. So join me in a good laugh.
