Just acquired a new (to me) motor, didn't have a key for it so I went down to the local marine shop and they helped me pick out a new ignition. I tried hooking it up, switching wires one by one, but when I turn the key nothing happens. I did hook up jumper cables to the starter and that fires up/spins.

Basically I have two questions,

1.) Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this engine?

2.) what else could it be?

model # is 33552 B

In further investigation, my starter switch/key has more connections then i have wires for. I have a B, 2 M's, I, C, S

What goes to the I? Did they sell me the wrong part? I should of taken a pic of how the old one was wired before I took it off, but the old one had an extra connection to that wasn't being used, I'm confused.

You can use the I for an accessory terminal on that switch but nothing over 5 amps. Your mtr doesn't require it.

Putz'd with it most of the day, I'm going to have to borrow a digital camera from someone I think. Put a new solenoid on it (was original) and still nothing.

One of the biggest mistakes you are now making is replacing parts that probably aren't bad. If you get the wrong part, you just compound the problem.

You don't need a camera, you need a voltmeter (multimeter). Check the voltages in the circuit and you will find the problem. Of course, that also requires one other thing---you have to know how to use that voltmeter. This is a great time to learn something.
