1964 johnson 75 electramatic high idle

I cant get the idle to come down even if I close the choke it wont stall I would think it has a vac leak but cant see anything wrong any Ideas????

There's an idle adjustment on the outside of the engine cover on the port side where the cable attaches. It's a plastic screw that butts up against a boss on the engine cover. Maybe your throttle cable is stiff and it won't return all the way.

Maybe the belt timing is off one tooth advanced.

I totally disconected that rod and no change also while running if i close the choke it makes no change

I'll check that but whats getting me is when I have it running and close the choke it makes no change should'nt it stall out?
