1963 40hp Jonhson Water Pump Problems

HI, I HAVE A 1963 40 JONHSON RDSL 25D, I HAVE WORK ON MOTERS MUST OF MY LIFE, BUT THIS ONE HAS GOT ME CONFUSED, I HAVE NO WATER COMING OUT OF THE WATER SPOUT, I CHECK THE WATER PUMP, AND IT LOOKS GOOD, I STARTED THE MOTER AND TOOK OFF THE THERMOSTAT, AND LEFT THE TOP OFF, THE WATER COMES OUT, I HAVE PUT A HOSE ON THE TUBES IN THE BASE THE WATER GOES UP ONE, AND COME DOWN THE OTHER TUBE, SO THERE NOT BLOCKED, AND YET I STILL HAVE NO WATER COMING OUT back exhaust port, I HAVE THE WATER IN A LARGE GARBAGE CAN, WITH THE WATER WAY OVER THE BASE, IT COME PAST WERE YOU JOIN THEM TOGATER, I AM READY TO THROW IT IN THE RIVER CAN ANYONE HELP

I removed the Head and water jacket and there was nothing blocking any of the ports

I HAVE LEFT THE THERMOSTAT OUT FOR NOW. STILL NO WATER COMING OUT

you only get droplets, or mist out the exhaust relief, you have the 2 tube system, (super quiet) it returns part of the water to the water pump, and recyles till the motor warms. then the rest goes out the exhaust, just above the prop.

If you have good compression on both cylinders (100+ psi) and no water traces on the spark plugs, replace the water pump to remove all doubt about its quality. Also replace the thermostat assembly and also the related plastic bypass valve assembly.

Now, with a new complete water pump and thermostat assembly, there is no reason why water wouldn't flow thru that system.

Water should shoot out that large exhaust bypass hole at the rear of the engine just below the powerhead regardless of whether the thermostat is open or not, and this should take place within about 30 seconds. The water should shoot out with a great force and volume.

disconnect the rod coming from the recoil to the compression relief valves then check it.
