My first post to this forum. Forgive me of any mistakes.
In about 1967-68, my Dad and I started to build a mahogany hydroplane covered with plywood from plans obtained from a magazine like Popular Mechanics or Popular Science, etc. It is about 7' long, about 6" thick and was designed to run with a 4-cycle mid-engine that you straddled as you sat on the deck. I have the frame that we built but I have lost the plans. I would love to finish the boat as an honor to Dad, but can not seem to find the magazine or source of plans. I do remember that the magazine had a picture of the finished boat showing how to install a homemade piece of tubing to create rooster tails. If anyone could direct me to the proper magazine source, I would be very grateful. All I have been able to find are small outboard hydro's. Anyone have any ideas???? Thanks::)

You can try to find it in this list:
Links to Boat plans, some free boat plans and designs, boatbuilding information, Free oar and paddle plans

There's a few... :watermelon:

And if you've got a few more days to sift thru sites, try this one:
The Mother of All Maritime Links: Contents

I looked around a bit but didn't find ANY inboard mid-engine hydroplane plans.

Good luck, and post up some pix of the project as it stands.

Sounds like a great plan to finish it.

Bob_VT may be a valuable resource, he's got some experience w/ homebuilt hydros:
These are the only photos I have left from about 20 years ago.

That is a Mercury Mark 55H with a racing lower and gear box. This was a rebuild.
