1960 Merc 400 lower unit installation

I can't tighten the nut on the bottom of my lower unit because the counterbored hole is too small to allow the use of a socket. I even tried a stamped sheet metal spark plug wrench but even that is too big.

What kink of tool do I need and where can I get one.

Why don't you just grind down a 5/8" socket until it fits in the hole, you moron?
