1960 40 johnson problems

engine will start and run for a few sec. but when i pump the ball up fuel pumps out the little hole in the fuel pump.is this normal ?

No. sounds like hole in diaphram. Rebuild or replace.

thanks i tried plugging that hole and it runs with that hole plugged pretty good but im afraid to make more problems keeping it plugged
