1960 18hp evinrude outboard lower unit gear oil...

1960 evinrude 18hp model# 15032. Just bought this motor and would like to know what kind of gear oil I need to use in the lower unit and foot. I was told when filling it to fill from the bottom plug until it runs out the top plug. Is this correct? Also, what's the fuel ratio? Thanks for any help.

Use any outboard gear oil. Most discount stores (Wal Mart) carry it.<br /><br />Yes, you fill it from the bottom. Don't forget to rplace the fill/drain plug seals-available at John/Rude dealers and cheap.<br /><br />Use a TCW-3 rated outboard oil at 24:1 ratio (one quart to six gallons.)
