1959 evinrude 35hp No Spark??????

Ok heres the deal, was getting water in the bottom cylinder, I just redid (again) the head gasket. Well I just checked to see if I was getting spark(no tester just letting it jump to the block) well top cyclinder sparks good as for the bottom one I dont get nothing out of it at all. Would that bottom one not sparking make it suck water in. Ive read a couple of posts and see a couple that have the same problem. I dont know what the compression is right now i have to get me a tester. Any help will be appreciated.

autozone, oreilys (and other autopart stores) will loan you a compression tester for free. Pick-up a spark tester while you're there for cheap, $6-7.
