1958 johnson seahorse 18hp upper seal replacement?

Hi, i have the magneto off and am looking to replace the upper seal. Do i need to split the powerhead to do this? or just pull it out with a pick or something from the top? any tips? Thanks.

2. You can split the case.
3. You can pick it out in pieces
