1958 Johnson prop question

Another question on my 1958 7.5hp Johnson. I need to replace the prop and it has a rubber cap on the end. I tried to turn it off but it didn't come off and I tried to pry it but it started to crack. How do I get that rubber cap off with out damaging it

well it may be stuck if original you may need ti invest for a new one

Take the cap off and replace it with a new one !!----You risk loosing the shear pin if you try and reuse this item.
