Good afternoon all. I'm reaching out to see if anybody has experience with judging the cost of vintage boats. I was gifted an 18' 1958 Hydroswift fiberglass boat with a Kiekhaefer Mark 78 outboard (aka tower of power & dockbuster). The boat is in descent condition considering its age and I recently had the motor stripped and rebuilt. That rebuild cost $900. It includes a descent, but older, trailer as well. I really just don't have a need for it and thinking to sell it. I've been looking around and really don't know what it's worth. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. 20170626_193221.jpg20170626_220326.jpg20170626_194537.jpg

if there is no rot in the boat, you can probably get 2-3K for the right buyer.

especially if you are in the midwest

You recently had an Inline 6, stripped and rebuilt for $900?

That boat doesn't look suitable for an inline 6. Check the plate to be sure it isn't over-powered.

Overall, the boat is not collectable. Classic boats have a calling, and that model / manufacturer isn't in the list. You need to find someone that wants an old boat for general use and is looking for a low price.

The motor, however, IS collectable. Probably worth more than the boat. But, after spending $900 you will not make a big profit.

IMHO, ask $2000 and take anything over $1000.
