I have just started doing up this motor model 15024-09424 I have got a few bits from nymarine but am having a hard time finding gaskets for the powerhead, anyone have any ideas on where to look I got a carb rebuild kit ok.

I think I found why it was put away the two condenser wires were worn down by the flywheel earthing it out. Also the coils were shot.

The carb was full of s**t from some type of spider that had been living there for the last 30 years

Most of it is striped down now to get ready for painting.

Go to www.marineengine.com, look up your motor by using the year. They have the carb parts.

Actually, Iboats has them as well.

I had a look for a powerhead gasket set but can't seen to find one . I have the carb set.

Thanks.

This is one I'm looking for from the powerhead to the leg.

Great stuff thanks, Any tips for removing the paint :) I started doing a bit of sanding and also had a go with some paint stripper, now I'm thinking of getting it soda blasted to save time and effort.

I'm pretty much a hacker when it comes to painting. Spray cans of Duplicolor. So far on mine I've just painted the lower unit. I found inadvertently that carb cleaner makes a good stripper. By the way, the boat in your signiture is a beauty. Nice job.

Don't know if you've found this or not but there are complete parts diagrams of your motor with part numbers at marineengines.com. I've ordered 3 or 4 times from them and never had a problem.

Awesome. Makes the little sailboat I built look like a toy.

So did you drink $40 worth of beer?;)

Sean - Great motor, and a nice project. I just put a 57 back together, no paint - yet. Good luck.

Thanks, I got the decals and medallions from nymarine so maybe I ask him if he has a gasket set for the powerhead.
I rebuilt the carb and put on the new electrics on just to try it out and to make sure I wasn't wasting my time. I did a compression test and was getting 125 psi in each cylinder :D so I think I will leave the head gasket alone.

Glad you got it running. Make sure you're running that thing a test barrel with water filled up to about an inch or two below the main exhaust port on the leg. It would be a shame for it to overheat now.

That's not fair. How the heck did you go from the motor in pieces for painting to running in just one day? It sure sounds sweat. Hope to hear my '57 do that soon too. Careful not to chew up the impeller running it dry.
