I am purchasing a 1956 evinrude motor and I am wondering if it is a good buy. Its only pushing a 13 ft aluminum fishing boat. Does anyone know what would be a good round about value if everything is operational and in decent shape?

have to be able to work on it yourself to get it up and running and maintain it. "operational" and "decent shape" means diff. things to diff. people. nice motors, though.

price is dependant on condition of the motor and the pressure tank ( unless its been converted to pump), and even if it is running, be prepared to spend a few bucks on it. running well, and water tested, $300 tops! heres a pic of a 7.5 i got for $90, and spent the money to redo the ignition, kit the carb, and convert to pump. forget the exact $$ amount im into it for, but its less than $200 total, but it still should have a fresh impeller.

A lot for me depends on cosmetics.

In my area, a non runner in decent shape goes for 75 to 150 bucks.

I sell fully tuned, gone over totally 7.5s for 300 to 350.

Depends on what some called mechanically restored to. One persons idea of a rebuild is much different from anothers.

Thank you for all the insight... Its costing 130.00 I guess I'll see what has to go into it besides a good tune up. Thanks again

parts sources in the Watertown area, for sure. I always figure about $140 or so for parts, assuming the pressurized fuel tank is working (or an installed fuel pump).

High Trim and nwcove are in my opinion right in the ball park as far as price dependent on condition. They're a great running motor (I have a 58). It will push my 14 aluminum easily up to a plane with just me and move at a decent clip. With another person it will go on a slower but decent plane. Once you have it up and running you'll have a motor on the cheap that will run forever and will always be easy to maintain.
