1955 Evinrude Ad

When I was on vacation last week, we went to a used book store that had three floors of everything. Down in the basement, I found a huge collection of old National Geographic magazines. I wanted to get a copy of the one for my birth month/year, but after poring through tons of them I ran out of time and had to settle for June 1955 which is only one month off.

The ads in those old rags are the most interesting part now, I think. I came across this ad for an Evinrude 25 hp Electric Start and wanted to share it here. You'll have to scroll up & down but I tried to make it big enough to read all the copy. These old ads are really entertaining and fascinating. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Can you imagine forking over $525 in 1955. I found a money comparing calculator and it came to an equivalent of $4220 in todays money. WOW!

I didn't think to do that! Seems hard to believe that boating has become more available to the common man with today's prices. My brand new '03 20 hp Mercury was about half that.
