I would like to know what the fuel mixture is for a 1955 25 hp Johnson Seahorse (RD-17S). I found one at an Estate sale and a friend of mine bought it. I told him that I thought the mixture might be 16:1, but I wasn't sure. What is the actual mixture for this motor? I kind of regret not getting the motor myself. When we opened up the cowl it looked like had hardly been used and the rest of the motor is in almost mint condition without a single dent in the cowl. By the way, he paid only $50 for the motor!
Thank You

That was a great price for the engine.
16:1 would be a safe bet, a lot of people run them at 24:1.

Working on a 55 or 56 motor, trying not to tear anything up... any suggestions for fuel mixture etc would be much appreciated.

Run at 24:1 on that.-----Install a new water pump impeller before your first launch.
