I'm having trouble finding a carb kit for this motor, especially a float. Does this kit and float cross over to other newer motors like the impeller does?

Sierra doesn't list a float at all.

I recently got a carb kit w/float for a '56 30 hp Johnson from local JohnnyRude dealer. Maybe an obvious question and I don't mean to be insulting, but have you tried there?

Local dealer says "our books don't go back that far". Very anoying. They did have the impeller, only because I knew the right number, and had to give it to them.

My best luck has been with SeaWay, they're about a 45 minute drive from me. But they keep bankers hours, and I wanted something this weekend. Oh well, patience is a virtue.
Thanks

The carb kit they gave me for the 30 was p/n 439074. I'd almost bet it'd be the same for yours. Maybe someone here can confirm.

I don't seem to have the info, but maxrules.com lists 439074 as for '51-'71 Big Twins. (except some 40hp)

Re: 1955 25 horse Carb kit with float

OK, so I got the carb kit from SeaWay, it is the 439074. I found a problem with the float, maybe this is why they don't list this kit for this motor?

The brass arm coming off the float is about 3/16 inch longer than the one I took out. This makes the float not centered inside the bowl, which makes it hit the "riser pipe" (don't know the real name) and get stuck in the down position.

I did correct the problem, I just put a crimp in the brass arm to make it shorter.

[_]-^--o

It's now centered, and doesn't catch on the pipe.
Anyway, just info for a future searcher.
