paynell, If they both run and are a useable motor, and you want to sell them probably about $50 each. There does not seem to be much of an antique market in these motors.

1954/56 BOAT MOTORS

I have two outboard motors of my fathers, who passed away.

One is a Mercury 10 horsepower

The other is a Johnson 5 1/2 horsepower.

Both are estimated to be manufactured between 1954-56.

Does anyone happen to have a general idea of how much they are worth?

If the Merc is a Hurricane Kg7 it could worth up near 800 bucks in original complete condition. Even if it's Mark 15 she could be worth half of that.

The johnson is a pretty common engine. At the Antique Outboard swap meets they go for anywhere fron 75-200 bucks depending on what shape their in. Painted up on Ebay they bring in the 3-400.00 range. Having the pressure type fuel tanks for these engines also helps the value.

Agreed....With a few exceptions. There are always the "collectors",whether it barbie dolls or outboards. Your question would be best answered at one or more of the links below;
(PS: I kinda wish I had the 10HP merc, as I have a 1953 Lonestar that is screeming "MORE POWER")...Hence my handle, 12Footer.
http://www.oldmercs.com/
http://www.maxrules.com/fixmercbook.html

And of course, E-bay.com

I have a 1959 evinrude 40 , a 1960 evin 55, . all motors run great and I would not sell them for less than 1/3 price of a new one of the same h.p. E-bay in the spring will give you a good fair price but not as good as advetizing in a loc. paper come april.web page
