Recently I purchased the 1953 Chris Craft for my husband with the promise to receive the title in the mail. Very very stupid of me. If you can imagine the title is not showing up and I do not know what to do, any suggestions?

welcome aboard

reach out to the prior owner and check with your local registration office (DNR/tax collector/etc.) in the location where you are at.

It's a 1953. Did they even issue a title for a boat of that vintage? Hopefully you have a receipt & didn't pay cash. Have you contacted the owner?

You can get paperwork easy by going through Vermont where you don't need to live and act as a mail order title service... Just make sure your state will accept it, as some won't because of it

Do you currently have possession of the boat and a bill of sale?
Also the previous owners name, registration, or other documents?
What state did the boat come from and do you reside in that state or another?
If it came with a trailer same questions.

With this information I am sure that someone on this list who is up on the states regulations can provide good advice since states differ on how they handle it.

Some states also title outboards, so include it and the trailer in ownership documents hunt

I have a bill of sale hand written but the name on it must be a fake name. I did not know they didn't issue a title in 1953?

in Minnesota it is easy all you need is a bill of sale and a hull number, it will be harder to actually get into the DMV than to do the transfer.

I don't know if your state does or doesn't. I'm just wondering. How come you didn't get the title when you paid the guy? Now you're saying the guy gave you a fake name on a boat that is almost 70 years old sold to you for cash. Have fun with that one.
