Need to know what the proper operation of the Low Speed Adjuster and High Speed Adjuster are on this motor. I was told that for the low speed that when idling you turn it until the motor stops missing. Not sure about the High speed adjuster though. Help Anyone?

Re: 1953 15HP Evinrude

Both those controls change the ratio of gasoline to air that the carburator delivers to the engine. Since an engine needs to run richer at idle than anywhere else, there are two adjustments. The Low Speed Adjuster sets mix at idle by controlling flow to the idle jets, and the High speed adjuster controls flow to the main jet. The high speed adjuster was later removed from later outboards, and replaced with a fixed high speed jet.
To set them up, go here and follow Joe Reeves advice.
Hope this helps!
