Hi, I have a 60hp Flying Scott outboard that I am looking to identify and also locate a wiring diagram for (and manuals). I don't see any seriel numbers or model numbers on the motor. Where should I be looking for them? I see one plate that is blank but says 2979.

Also I would I need to locate a wire diagram for this, so I can figure out what is missing from the key ignition.

Thank you. Any help would be appreciated.

Great old motor! IMHO you should get the lower unit more submerged to insure the water pump is primed before running it in a bucket. The link below will get you to some non-factory service info that may help you. Good luck!

Login as directed, then drill down to: Small Engines, Marine/Boat Motors, McCulloch and, finally, Flying Scott

Thanks Willyclay.

Yeah I will add water before I run it next. That is the level after we wheeled it out of the garage (down a ramp) to it's current location, where it can spray water where ever it would like. Decided I didn't need to mop the inside of my shop. ;)

Did a lot of skiing behind a Flying Scott when I was a pup! Will be leading the cheering section for you.

A little update, I finally found the Model Numbers (I think). Thanks to the "Scott Guy" I think they are C3jB279 which would make it a 1960's motor.

If you have the manual either digitally or in paper, I would like to obtain one. I have a photo of the inside of the cowling showing a basic wiring diagram. Let me know if that would be of use.
