No worries until you have some mag shavings or dust piled up.

I just noticed the faded logo that reads "Magnesium Starcraft". Magnesium is in cursive above Starcraft - look hard the two pics. I'm thinking on shooting on some paint and sticking it in the water.

That logo is cool. You gotta see if you can recreate something similar for it.

I don't have a clue what color this boat was born with so let the experiments begin! I also kept the original wood and replaced it with Mohogany.

Great looking boat! I have Magnesium Dowcraft that I purchased for the niece of the original owner. It is all complete but needs to be restored. I have reached out to Dow and did not get a reply. I would like to gather more information and restore back to original. This is a link to photos of my boat and more discussion about the boat. Have fun with the boat and it's great to see others that are interested in a little history.

Thanks Goin70. It's a pleasure. Your link has supplied me with the only information I know of about this boat - thanks. Have you seen any other boats like these around? I would love to find out what year my boat is! I'd also love to see more pictures of your boat! Thanks, Dennis

I dont understand why so many people doubt your burn test. Has everyone forgotten that aluminum doesn't burn ? Hello
but Mag certainly DOES !

Bought one used in the 80's. Live near the plant. Guy told me it was a magnesium short run trying to get a light weight product. Very light. Would not hold paint when he painted it. They are in New Paris, Indiana now if you want to contact them.
