Yea if you look at the way the gunwale sides taper down and wider as they go towards the stern this boat is a mirror image of the pics we have of the 62. I'd say again it's most likely a 61. And it's in pretty good shape.

somehow those rearview mirrors really give it an early 60s pimpmobile vibe

NB--keep up that visualization, the old girl needs all the help she can get with me at the helm of the resto

So are the two aluminum braces from the SW to the Transom supposed to be there? or is that a band-aid that was added to address a bigger issue?

I'm thinking that the transom is coming off over the winter, but I don't know if I have to put those braces back on.

Thanks for all the help!

This place is awesome!

Slinger - I can say without a doubt and no matter what year she is, those braces are an add-on. Just be gentle with her until spring when she has a new transom. Maybe you should put some weight on the motor - stand on the AV plate - and see if the transom flexes.

EDIT - After seeing the SN plate, I'm still saying she's a 1961.

I think those braces are part of that whole huge downrigger rod holder setup. This boat was originally designed to be a runabout and someone went harry homeowner fishing machine custom on it. You shouldn't need all that crap unless you want to keep the downriggers.

I think those braces can be eliminated with just a little thinking, even if keeping the downriggers. Sure would clean up the transom/SW area.
