175 Sport Jet

My buddy just got a sea rayder jet boat and the alarm is letting us know something is wrong. He's ran it in the water twice and both times it shut down after 5mins. The 2nd time it started right back up after sitting for less than a minute. The 1st time it took several minutes. How hot are the heads suppose to feel? We figure it's overheating. After doing some reading, the water passages seem to be problematic to clogging and causing. Is there anything else we should be looking at? Thanks!

Ok it doesn't seem to be over heating. The heads get hot but not scorching. We ran it for probably 10mins just 1/2 and 3/4 throttle and as soon as we went wide open throttle it shut down. We have no idea whats causing it. The alarm beeps the entire time. The carbs were taken off and some what cleaned out so we don't think it's with the carbs.
