I have 92 170 merc cruiser and the waterpump shaft seal is leaking water into the timing cover and thus filling the motor with water. The seal in the cover is old and the shaft from the front of the camshaft looks not so good for a sealing service. My question is the shaft off the front of the camshaft which drives the water pump is it part of the cam or is it replaceable. If it is part of the cam, is there a speedy sleeve that can be bought that fits on the cam stub shaft so a good seal service is made. Any help would be great as I am in the Baja with lots of fish around and cant getem.
