Hi all,
I'm wondering if there are any tips relating to my re-build of my floor.

It's kindda odd as there are no wood stringers (vertical -length of boat) as it is heavy guage wire mesh with a high density fiberglass covering. There are 2x4 wood stringers running across (horizontal) about a foot above the bottom hull that attach to the underside of plywood that are on each side of the gun wale (hopefully the trench in the middle of the boat is called a gunwale?)

The foam is dry and I remove a section to check, however all the wood half way down and to the engine is rotten and wet. I have carefully removed all of it. See pictures.

I have cut the floor out about 1 inch away from the sides of the boat. I am planning on cleaning about 4" up the side of the hull and fiberglassing in the floor.

Does this sound reasonable? I'm worried about how to "tab" to those two metal stringers. Any suggestions?

Any advise?

Thanks.20120429_131644.jpg

Welcome to the drydock larson77,

Hard to tell from just the one pic, but it looks like you might be in for a complete redo...

Is this a fiberglass boat or an aluminum boat...makes a big difference in how to go about fixing it...

Go here... http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=288451 ...do some reading

Get a free photobucket account, load your pics there, then click the IMG tag on each pic and post them here...

The pics help us see what you see and make it easier to try and guide you in the right direction...

Best of luck,

hi....welcome to iboats larson.

the "mesh" is a 32 oz woven roving fiberglass....it is covering a wood structure....(poorly covering it form the pics)

it is entirely possible that this is a full gut job..

but we wont know till you get the rest of the area cleaned up and pics are posted.

the foam will look dry on the top.....but you need to get right down to the bottom to see if its wet.....you will know when you see it)

here is a link to a deck replacement.
