Sorry, I know it?s been a while here from my last post. I hit a few road blocks, got super busy at work and home taking care of other things that needed attention, but I?m back in the swing of things.
One of the setbacks I had was finding rivets. I went to about 4-5 different stores, and could not find any rivets that were long enough to go through the 3/4? epoxied floor and the stringers. 1/2? were the longest ones I could find. I ended up buying rivets at
www.rivetsonline.com . They weren?t horribly priced, but the cost of shipping kill?s ya. I should have also done a better job measuring before ordering the first time, as I bought rivets that were barely too short. 2nd time around I purchased the longest ones they had and they seem to do the trick.
Floor is almost complete, just need to finish up riveting the floor. One issue that I have with the floor is that the front piece must not have been cut exactly and doesn?t rest on the middle front stringer, which makes it difficult to fasten the very front piece. My plan is to find a small piece of plastic if I can find it, or fasten a piece of wood to make up the gap. It?s really not an area that I?m concerned with as it won?t ever be supporting something heavier than a battery.
I got a good start on getting the transom in this weekend as well, just need to run to the store to get some more nuts and screws. Lost some on the take down?
After the transom and floors are complete I?m going to move on to the vinyl flooring which is my next concern. What should I use for the adhesive to bond the vinyl to the floor? I was thinking liquid nails might be the best bet, but I?m not sure if it would stick to the fiberglass resin. Any thoughts?
