Don't discount the skiing. I have a 16 foot alum Pricecraft (6 foot beam) and a 25 Hp Big foot 4 stroke one the rear. The boat is utility with a wheel and controls so it weighs only 350 lb. We can throw andyone we choose off the tube and got everyone up on skiis this weekend. Top speed 29mph per my GPS. The prop is 11 inch pitch so the motor is effectively geared down and has lots of power to get even my 230 pound brother in law up. He even dropped a ski and did a little slalom on one. He found it as good as his father's heavy old fibreglass boat with the 85hp on it because the hole shot was better and the turning radius is smaller.

I know there are doubters out there, and so was I till we tried it, but it worked.

You should be able to pull a small skier with the 40 horse, with 70 you could probably get most people up on two skis. My uncle had a 14 foot sea nymph with a 25 horse evinrude that would pull us up on skis until we were about 14. I would buy the boat, its a good price, and just use it. These boats are really well made.
