i am replacing my cylinder head cover gaskets and wanted to know if i should use any type of sealer or locktite on bolts? i have read to torque to 110 inch pounds is this correct as they were a lot tighter than that. thanks for taking the time to read.

Where did you read that V-6 heads get torqued to 110 in lbs?

Type 1 heads torque to 40 ft. lbs. Type 2 torque to 30 Ft. lbs. Either head cover torques to 150 in. lbs.

Normally you use a light lube or anti-seize on the bolts.

The part number suffix on your heads will indicate which ones you have. As John said, motors after 1990 1/2, with C2 heads will get 40 ft lbs/480 inch lbs and those with C4 heads will get 30 ft lbs/360 in lbs plus and addtional 90 degrees. The spec's are cast into the heads on C4's, C2's have no specs cast on them but have raised bands accross the tops that indicate that they are C2's. Heads of prior years may be one or two piece and have a completely different look to them.

Chase the threads on the bolts with a die then lightly coat with a light oil such as 10w/30w motor oil. Don't use 2 stroke oil, it will gum up and make the bolts hard to remove next time.
