Looking at buying a boat with twin 150 Johnson's owner says that both powerheads changed 3 years ago . Hasn't been run in 2 years and he says will turn over but not start do have good compression.

Is it worth it to renew/rebuild or what.

Thanks

Welcome to iboats....

You are considering a purchase of a non running motors with repairs that are based on "what they said"......... it could be any point in the spectrum.......

It could be an easy repair or a NIGHTMARE!!!

The older V-6 motors would run fine as long as compression is fairly equal in all cylinders......

I would do a serious inspection before I purchased....

Compression, spark, condition...... being twins that doubles the anxiety

Yes they are good motors ;)

Buyer beware.

Thanks for reply great forum.

Once I check them over for compression etc and determine there issues is it easy to get parts for these bad boys?

I can rebuild them no problem but I do not know if that is cost effective.
