My solonoid valve was making a mess, leaking fuel . Upon inspection I found it was cracked. I pulled the entgire solonoid out and upon inspection found the bottom of the solonoid looked like it may have been burnt or on the way to problems. Is this the sign of internal heat on the way to failure or might it have been a sloppy job in the manufacturing process. Excuse the mug shot. I appreciate your replies.WIN_20230430_21_01_00_Pro.jpg

Mine did the same thing last Spring

It just quit working. Upon further inspection found the coil had overheated and melted the epoxy as yours did.

Traced it back to a sticking key switch. Replaced the switch and primer. Everything was back to normal.

Fast forward to this year. Had to manually choke to get started the last time out.

Didn’t have time to investigate at the time. Need to dig into it before the tournament next week

Not the cover the valve stem. Easy to replace as I have a kit for that.
The question was really about the condition of the solonoid. Good or bad. It still works. Racerone leads me fix the stem and use it ? Dingbats reply leads me to replace the solonoid. A 200.00 dollar OEM or 57.00 Chinese replacement. Is this part destined to fail. I will do a key switch test . I remember the choke position had given me intermittent problem last year. I cleaned some connections and it worked fine and still does except for the broken valve stem and leak.
Dingbat, did your solonoid fail ? Or did you replace it because you knew it would, The epoxy being melted a sign of heat and subsequent damage not a manufacturing defect.

No, the solenoid didn't fail.
Too many years in electronics manufacturing to have any faith in a solenoid once the windings are burnt. It's only a matter time.....

Replaced with OEM switch and aftermarket solenoid.
