150 black max Reed Valves

How difficult is it to get to the reed valves on a 1984 150 black max... looks to be remove the carbs and they are located under them .. then replace the gaskets ... this sound right?? Any one done it ? how many hours ??

Leave the carbs on and disconnect everything that feeds them. Leave them on the intake, and pull the intake off with carbs on it. This takes me about 30 minutes to get off. All of the reed blocks are on the intake. You will have 2 rows of reeds per cylinder. The longest time will be spent putting the reeds in. There a many little screws, and gaskets, and scraping/cleaning, but it all is easy. Just takes time building the reed blocks. I could do the whole thing in about 3 hours. :D
