I have a 2000-15 hp Mercury manual start. The plastic fitting on the tiller tube that fits into the pulley housing to shift and give gas was slipping and I could not shift out of reverse. I took it off the shaft and drilled a hole in it and the tiller tube and put it back together with a screw to keep it from slipping. I can get it into all the gears but when I shift into forward I have no more throttle left to give more gas. I did not try to align anything but just stuck it back into the pulley case. Did I need to align something first? Thanks for help
